JOB SUMMARY:
Through intentional relationship and community building, the Department of Residence Life provides an inclusive and supportive educational living environment where students develop skills and knowledge to think critically, act wisely, and work skillfully to advance the common good.
Desk Staff are a primary contact for residential students, guests, and staff members in residence halls. Desk Staff must be able to provide customer service, resources, and information to anyone they may be interacting with. Desk Staff will play a role in maintaining security and records for guests and visitors to the residence hall through a check in process. Desk Staff will also play a role in the community development of the residence hall they are working with and it is important that they cultivate and maintain relationships with visitors and residence hall team members.
Desk Staff must live on campus during the 2026 - 2027 Academic Year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide resources and information to residents, visitors, and staff
- Be observant of any issues that come up in their surroundings and report said issues to appropriate parties (Student Leaders, Professional Staff, or Public Safety)
- Maintain organization of desk resources
- Register guests to the residence hall
- Maintain a positive and consistent presence during shifts
- During hall opening, provide room keys and key packets to early arrival residents

Desk Staff have a required training on Thursday, August 21 @ 9:00 am via Zoom. Shifts will start on August 27, 2026. Desk staff will be able to move in starting Wednesday, August 26, 2025.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for student employment, St. Thomas students must be degree seeking at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels.
