Job Description

Multnomah Athletic Club is more than Portland’s most legendary hub of sports and socializing. It’s like a small city unto itself. Where else can you find four restaurants, three pools, a climbing gym, state-of-the-art studios and fitness suite, a complex of racquet sport courts, massage offerings, a boutique, plus a grand ballroom and variety of events spaces all in one place? To say that every employee of MAC has room to move is an understatement almost as big as MAC’s 600,000 square feet of recreational possibilities.

Want a career with a future? A campus worth exploring? A one-of-a-kind community on which you can have a direct impact? MAC is all of those things and more.

The Role
Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) is seeking a Seasonal Outdoor Coordinator to join our Outdoor Sports team for the peak summer season. This role works closely with the Outdoor Program Supervisor to support the planning, coordination, and delivery of high-quality outdoor recreational programming for youth and adults.
The Seasonal Outdoor Coordinator plays a key operational role, ensuring seamless execution across a high volume of concurrent programs, including Youth Adventure Camps, weekday outings, and weekend guided trips. This position blends hands-on fieldwork with detailed administrative coordination and requires availability during evenings and weekends based on program needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Guide Outdoor Program offerings in a professional, safe, and knowledgeable manner
  • Step in as a guide when needed, including coverage for staff callouts
  • Drive 15-passenger vans to and from program locations as required
  • Assist with Adventure Camp check-in and on-site program support
Operational Coordination & Problem Solving
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for weekend programming, ensuring all trip details are accurate, communicated, and executed effectively
  • Provide real-time problem solving and operational support during active programs
  • Proactively identify and resolve logistical challenges before they impact program delivery
  • Support guide check-ins and ensure alignment on expectations, safety standards, and logistics
Leadership & Team Support
  • Provide leadership and on-the-ground support to guides and volunteers
  • Reinforce program expectations and ensure clarity of roles, logistics, and timelines
  • Foster a collaborative, professional, and safety-focused team environment
Participant Communication & Administration
  • Prepare, review, and distribute clear, detailed participant communications (logistics, meeting locations, timing, and expectations)
  • Respond promptly and professionally to participant questions and concerns
  • Coordinate trip logistics, including roster management, waitlist outreach, and guide communications
  • Maintain accurate program records, including attendance, incident reports, and documentation
Equipment, Gear & Safety Management
  • Prepare, stage, and organize gear for weekday and weekend programs
  • Track gear usage, maintenance needs, and replacements to ensure program readiness
  • Maintain, inventory, and restock first-aid kits and safety equipment (AEDs, radios, GPS devices)
  • Uphold all MAC safety policies and procedures and demonstrate safe work practices
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and workplace incidents promptly
Club Representation
  • Represent Multnomah Athletic Club with professionalism, integrity, and excellent customer service at all times

What You’ll Bring
Experience & Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in outdoor recreation, guiding, and/or program coordination
