Role:
The APV is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Bilingual Jira Coordinator to support workflow management for our Rare Disease Content Management System (CMS). This role ensures that content creation, review, translation, and publication activities move efficiently through Jira workflows. The ideal candidate is fluent in English and Spanish and experienced in managing Jira boards for content or digital product teams. This position also provides Spanish translation services to support high-quality bilingual content delivery.
The Genetic and Rare Diseases (GARD) Information Center, created under the Rare Diseases Act of 2002, provides trusted, easy-to-understand health information to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
There are more than 10,000 rare diseases affecting millions of Americans. NCATS focuses on turning research discoveries into health solutions through scalable, innovative approaches. Within NCATS, the Division of Rare Diseases Research Innovation (DRDRI) leads efforts to advance rare disease research.
Duties:
The Senior Bilingual Jira Coordinator will:
Jira Administration & Workflow Coordination
- Manage and maintain Jira boards, workflows, issue types, fields, and dashboards for the rare disease Content Management System (CMS).
- Create, assign, and track tickets related to data curation, content development, SME review, Spanish translation, and publication.
- Monitor backlog health, ensure items are properly prioritized, and coordinate sprint planning.
- Perform regular QA of workflows to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with content governance standards.
Content Pipeline Support
· Ensure each rare disease page or dataset moves through required workflow stages (e.g., intake ? data validation & curation ? SME review ? content creation ? Plain language/508 compliance ? Spanish translation ? approval ? publishing).
· Serve as the primary point of coordination across data curators, content specialists, translators, and publishing teams.
· Track dependencies and flag issues or delays to program manager and leadership.
Spanish Translation Services
· Provide high-quality Spanish translation for rare disease content, workflows, and communication materials.
· Translate terminology, content updates, and disease summaries while ensuring accuracy, clarity, and cultural/linguistic appropriateness.
· Collaborate with Genetic Counselors, content strategists, and SMEs to validate rare disease terminology in Spanish.
· Support quality checks of translated content within the CMS and Jira tickets.
Bilingual Coordination
· Support content and workflow communication in both English and Spanish.
· Coordinate with external translators when needed, ensuring consistent terminology and workflow alignment
· Help maintain bilingual content guidelines and terminology consistency across rare disease pages.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, or a related field.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal.
- Proven experience providing professional Spanish translation services.
- 2+ years managing Jira workflows, boards, and dashboards.
- Experience coordinating content, digital workflow, or CMS-based projects.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams in both languages.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with NIH or other federal communication programs.
- Knowledge of Spanish translation workflows and language localization best practices.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum principles.
