Program Manager- 190 days -$1,000.00 position supplement- VIB Funded


 


Job Goal/Summary:  To provide the highest quality educational experiences for students with exceptional needs between ages three and twenty-one in the Liberty County School System.


 


QUALIFICATIONS: 



  1. Master’s degree or higher in a special education related field from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university

  2. Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching or administration in a special education related position within a public school setting in Georgia

  3. Hold or be eligible for a valid Professional Standards Commission approved certificate Educational Leadership or in a special education related field

  4. The successful applicant must have extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local special education administrative laws, rules, and regulations; and familiarity of current trends and best practices in special education practices and procedures

  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable       


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Prompt and regular attendance 

  • Coordinates and assists with IEP training for staff to ensure compliance of IDEA regulations and district procedures

  • Coordinates and assists with 504 training for staff to ensure compliance with Section 504 regulations and district procedures

  • Coordinates the IEP Compliance Review to ensure compliance of IDEA regulations and district procedures

  • Coordinates the 504 Compliance Review to ensure compliance with Section 504 regulations and district procedures

  • Assists as a liaison between the school and district to ensure support is provided with IDEA regulations and district procedures  

  • Attends initial, re-evaluation, or annual review IEP meetings as a team member or LEA as needed to support school LEAs 

  • Coordinates and processes Exceptional Learning Hospital/Homebound/Home Program services and supports

  • Communicates with parents and staff to support the implementation of compliant IEPs

  • Keeps abreast of the current trends in special education programs and 504 at the federal and state levels

  • Works cooperatively with administrators, teachers, parents, and other community members

  • Assists school administrators in developing an appropriate 504 and special education schedule, utilizing the assigned staff appropriately to meet the needs of the students

  • Monitors and assists the technology department in completing the FTE 1 and 3 cycles to maintain accuracy

  • Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor and Superintendent of Schools


Physical Requirements:


Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:


Light Work:  Exerting 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.


Terms of Employment:


Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule.  Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.


Evaluation:


 Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Executive Director/Program/Compliance Specialists-Department for Exceptional Learning
