Job Summary

The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is a defined benefit (DB) pension plan that is dedicated to providing secure retirement income to more than 504,000 members in Ontario’s healthcare sector. HOOPP Capital Partners (“HCP”) is the private equity division of HOOPP and manages over $20 billion in net asset value. This opportunity will expose you to a wide variety of direct, co-investment and fund investment opportunities. You will work closely with various private equity team members that will help provide you with the necessary skills to succeed in private equity. What you will do:

Your internship as a Private Equity Analyst student intern:

  • You will work primarily under the overall direction of Senior Associates, Associates and other professionals as we generate ideas, evaluate investments and execute transactions

How you will contribute:

  • Assist in due diligence efforts on potential direct, co-investment and fund investment opportunities

  • Aid in the preparation of investment merits and risks of investment opportunities

  • Help develop financial, valuation and returns analyses on private and public companies

  • Prepare investment presentations and documents for investment committee discussions

  • Analyze industry and market data

  • Assist with the facilitation of meetings and documentation

  • Assist in monitoring ongoing performance of portfolio companies and fund portfolios

  • Support the development of internal private equity strategy projects and other ad-hoc tasks

What you will bring:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program with a focus in business, finance, accounting, economics, math or computer science is preferred, but not necessary

  • Track record of academic achievement and leadership experience (i.e., clubs, sports, extracurricular activities, charitable work)

  • Have a combination of strong analytical skills, strong work ethic, excellent communication abilities and a solid foundation in finance

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Deep sense of motivation and curiosity for financial markets, investing and corporate finance

  • Good familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint and Word

  • Prior internship experience in investment banking, private equity or asset management is an asset

  • All students (regardless of year of study) are encouraged to apply

 

The expected hourly rate range for this role is $26.00 to $40.00
