The School of Social Work
at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for three, full-time, tenure-track Assistant
Professor positions beginning August 2026.

skilled graduates equipped to serve all communities, spanning rural, urban,
and suburban areas in the Gulf-South region. We create dynamic classrooms where
critical thinking thrives through hands-on, student-centered learning. Faculty
members maintain active research programs in childhood obesity, geriatric
workforce development, human trafficking, integrated health, and reproductive
justice while providing training in evidence-based practices.
Faculty are expected to
teach in both the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW)
programs. The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredits both degree
programs.

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have earned
an MSW from a CSWE accredited institution and a PhD or
doctorate in Social Work from an accredited college or university. ABD's
nearing completion of their dissertation may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Licensure at the LMSW or LCSW level.
Two years’ post-master's experience.
Demonstrated teaching/training experience at undergraduate and graduate levels.
An established record of scholarship.
