Job Description

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team as a Substitute Bus Driver. This on-call position involves providing safe and reliable transportation for students across the district. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student safety, possess excellent driving skills, and be able to adapt to various routes and schedules as needed.

Responsibilities
- Operate school buses safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and field trips, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus to ensure safety and maintenance standards are met.
- Monitor student behavior while on the bus, promoting a safe and respectful environment.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation issues and schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and student attendance.
- Respond to emergencies and unexpected situations calmly and effectively.
- Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay informed of best practices and district policies.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bus interior and exterior.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for passenger transport.
- Minimum of 7 years of driving experience, preferably in a school or public transportation setting.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage student behavior and address conflicts effectively.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening as required by district policy.
