Pay: $155,000 - $167,000

Job Description:

The Wound Care Specialist is an integral part of the Nursing Professional Practice department and works

closely with the Nurse Educators to plan and implement educational programs that lead to increased

outcomes and quality with regards to wound care in the hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop educational activities that are congruent with the EHS mission, goals, priorities, and resources
  • Prepare program objectives, which are behaviorally objective
  • Work with fellow educators to plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing orientation process
  • Participate in formal orientation classes for all new employees in the Nursing Department
  • Facilitate an appropriate climate for learning using the adult learning process to develop, plan, and present educational activities for all team members
  • Monitor staff through direct observation, interaction with nursing leadership, and dialogue with staff to ensure they are competent to perform assigned duties
  • Evaluate staff performance via periodic chart reviews and direct observation
  • Share observation results with nursing leadership and assist and participate in corrective plans where necessary
  • Conduct program evaluations for all programs and classes delivered

Requirements

  • NYS RN License Required
  • WOCN and BLS Certification Required
  • BSN required, MSN preferred
  • Minimum 3 years Wound Care experience in an acute care/hospital setting
