Job Description

1st shift; Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 3:00pm

 

Position Description:

This position is responsible for the welding and fabrication of standard and custom bins, hoppers, silos, and tanks used in the food processing, plastics, chemicals, waste management, agricultural and a variety of other industries. To excel in this role, the candidate should have in-depth knowledge of welding machinery and equipment. A steady hand, natural motivation, positive attitude/aptitude and an outstanding attention to detail are recommended, as well as performing all other duties assigned.

 

Responsibilities:

  • This position requires measuring, grinding, blueprint reading, layout, and tack welding.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment: welder, torch, plasma cutter, grinder, material handling equipment, overhead cranes.
  • Set up weld equipment for specific task to be performed.
  • Weld components using proper equipment and techniques.
  • Assess welded surfaces, structures and components to identify errors.
  • Grind and finish welds to make aesthetically appealing.
  • Maintain and repair all machinery and perform daily housekeeping.
  • Follow and enforce strict safety regulations such as wearing heat-resistant gloves, protective masks, and safety shoes.
  • Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature.

 

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints and read a tape measure.
  • A valid certificate in welding from an accredited institution or three (3) years working experience in welding, fabrication and layout.
  • Must successfully pass a performance weld test and written skills assessment.
  • Must utilize different welding processes:  GMAW, GTAW, SMAW and FCAW.
  • Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with various types of metals and their physical properties and how to work with them.
  • Capability of understanding technical plans and drawings.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Maintain accurate work and good levels of concentration.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and/or on an individual basis.
  • Flexible and capable of successfully performing in a fast-paced environment.
