JOB FUNCTION: Under the general supervision of an Area Supervisor, the Early Head Start Center Director is responsible for daily operations and activities of a designated location. Develops and maintains a positive, effective Early Head Start / Head Start facility and classroom(s) in compliance with Early Head Start/ Head Start Performance Standards as well as State and local licensing standards. Performs community relations, resolves conflicts and immediately notifies Area Supervisor of such. Compiles ChildPlus data and records average daily attendance reports. Completes special projects as required. May serve as classroom substitute in the absence of a Teacher.

Education/ Experience
- A bachelor’s degree (preferred) or associate’s degree (required) in early childhood education or other related field with experience in teaching, program administration and evaluation.
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in supervision and administering early childhood or adolescent programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills required.
- Knowledge and development of community resources, methods and practices of health and safety precautions, and providing structure for children and youth.
- Computer literate.
Knowledge:
- Must be computer literate and have accurate typing skills as well as the ability to operate a variety of office equipment;
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, problem-solving, interpersonal and analytical skills required;
- Community resources, methods and practices of health and safety precautions, providing age-appropriate education services and facilitating family involvement in program services;
- Ability to comply with Head Start Performance Standards.
