Requirements

Education & Licensure Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine
  • Active (or eligible for) state medical license
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in applicable specialty
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred; new graduates with strong rural interest will be considered
  • Experience providing care across the lifespan (pediatrics, adults, geriatrics)
  • Experience in emergency or urgent care settings preferred
  • Experience in rural health, community health, or underserved populations preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a rural setting

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care services
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Promote preventive care and patient education
  • Participate in scheduled Emergency Room call coverage, including evaluation and management of emergent medical conditions
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, advanced practice providers, behavioral health, and ancillary services
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation

Summary

The Rural Health Clinic Physician provides comprehensive primary medical care to patients of all ages within a community-based rural healthcare setting. This position focuses on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while addressing the unique health needs of a rural population. In addition to clinic responsibilities, the Physician will participate in Emergency Room (ER) call coverage, supporting continuity of care for the community. The Physician collaborates with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to improve patient outcomes and promote overall community health.
