Description

 

DVRPC is seeking a motivated intern to serve in a shared role between the Office of Transportation, Bicycle, and Pedestrian Planning (OTBP) and the Office of Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Strategy and Marketing (OTSM). This full-time internship offers hands-on experience with multimodal transportation planning, program research, and marketing/outreach initiatives in the Greater Philadelphia region.

 

Requirements

Office of Transportation, Bicycle, and Pedestrian Planning (OTBP)

26.5 hours/week 

  • Participate in unit and project meetings. 

  • Research and analyze planning topics, and write up summary findings for reports.

  • Create maps, graphics, and illustrations for presentations and reports.

  • Work both collaboratively with project teams and independently under staff supervision.

  • Projects may include:

    • PennDOT Connects Complete Streets Resurfacing Program

    • Pottstown Area Planning Support

    • Research and summarize asset management strategies for safety treatments and temporary materials.

Office of Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Strategy and Marketing (OTSM) 

11 hours/week 

  • Assist with the planned rebranding of DVRPC’s Share-A-Ride (SAR) ridematch program, including:

    • Assisting with the development of new materials after rebranding.

    • Coordinating with software vendors.

    • Working with Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) to address their needs for SAR.

  • Further analysis of SAR research conducted by EaseConsult.

  • Support TripSmart PA plans and outreach for America250 and other 2026 events.

  • Spearhead a review of peer ridematch and service programs, such as Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission’s CommuteInfo program.

Qualifications

  • Interest in transportation planning and active transportation.

  • Strong written and graphic communication skills.

  • Experience with ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, and/or data analysis tools preferred.

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

  • Exposure to principles of marketing and communications programs; interest in this area of expertise is helpful.

  • Undergraduate or graduate student in urban planning, transportation, geography, public policy, or a related field.

 

 

Summary

Availability 

Availability to start on or around Wednesday, June 10 preferred. This is a hybrid position requiring up to 37.5 hours per week, with a minimum of three days in the office per week.

Compensation 

$19 per hour for interns currently pursuing or holding a Bachelor’s degree. $22 per hour for candidates currently pursuing or holding a Master’s degree. Students with Work-Study funding are encouraged to apply. 

Minimum Education and Training 

Must have completed at least one year of a college/university program or be enrolled in a master's, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
