Build and tune detections for threats against our production and corporate environments, triage incoming alerts and reports, investigate potential threats, and respond to confirmed incidents from triage through containment and retrospective. Hunt for threats that existing detections would miss, and partner with other engineering teams to improve telemetry, close detection gaps, and reduce the time it takes to find and stop threats.
- Triage incoming alerts, tickets, and reports from internal and external sources, making judgment calls on what to investigate, escalate, or close.
- Write, test, and maintain detections across cloud, endpoint, identity, and application logs.
- Own investigations and incident response activities, including triage, containment, evidence collection, and incident retrospective review.
- Run threat hunts based on hypotheses drawn from threat intelligence, known gaps, or adversary behavior, and convert findings into detections or instrumentation changes.
- Improve detection coverage and response capability by identifying gaps, proposing instrumentation changes, and collaborating with platform and product teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Security, Engineering, or Information Systems and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience.
- Working knowledge of attacker tactics and techniques, a SIEM or detection platform, and at least one scripting language for detection logic and automation.
- Experience triaging alerts, investigating incidents, and running hypothesis-driven threat hunts, with written communication that works for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work complex problems autonomously, know when to ask for help, and complete work through implementation and adoption.
