About the Department
The Maintenance Support Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on facility plumbing, electric, heating and cooling, grounds/site maintenance and other building systems.
Position Duties
- Respond to Campus Work Order (WO) maintenance requests/work orders and to common inquires/complaints in a professional manner while ensuring timely completion.
- Assists with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems to include, but not limited to: plumbing systems, roofs, drains, electrical, painting and HVAC.
- Work with a sense of urgency to ensure all service requests are responded to in a timely manner; reports start, progress & completion of each task.
- Ability to operate in a team environment on repairs and installations.
- Establish, assign and maintain routine /preventative maintenance programs and other required schedules.
- Responsible for inventory management and overseeing the cleanliness and orderly manner of the maintenance shop.
- Carpentry experience, replacing ceiling tiles, carpet tiles, repairing doors,including locks, hinges, closers, and cabinet/furniture hardware.
- Electrical experience, replacing bulbs, ballasts, receptacles, switches, and general troubleshooting.
- Plumbing experience, repairing sinks, toilets, and clearing stoppages.
- Maintain lighting systems throughout the facility, and replacing bulbs, lamps and ballasts.
- Performs other duties as assigned as needed.
- Perform all work to industry standards and maintain a professional manner and appearance at all times.
- Serve as on-call emergency contact for after-hours building emergencies and summoning additional assistance as needed.
- Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and Company directives as related to building operations and practice safe work habits.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to respond to common inquires/complaints in a professional manner.
- Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electric, grounds/site maintenance other building systems preferred.
- Ability to use personal computer for work orders, email, and other communication as well as basic skills with Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Word.
- Physical requirements include stooping, walking, standing for long periods, climbing stairs / ladders and ability to lift and carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more throughout the day.
- Individual will make decisions with a general understanding of procedures and company policies.
- Ensuring the successful execution of all HCC safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license recognized in North Carolina
