Summer Employment

We are currently hiring

Part-time – Youth Services Specialist

(Summer Youth Job Coach)

 

Orientation and training will be the week of May 27th or June 2nd

Level 1:                                                             Level 2:

June 8th through June 26th                                         July 6th through August 7th  


Monday through Thursday approximately 8:30am-3:30pm-times vary due to transportation & Level; Fridays 9:00am – until completion of report writing (typically 2-3 hrs.)

As a Summer Youth Services Specialist with Ohio Valley Goodwill, you’ll help high school students with developmental disabilities build vocational skills and workplace behaviors through the Youth Employment Skills (YES!) program. We’re looking for creative, motivated, and enthusiastic individuals to join our team!

 

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively and professionally communicate with Individuals, family members, employers, and Goodwill staff
  • Implement techniques and strategies to achieve skill development, competitive pace and quality standards
  • Provide demonstration of task(s) and accurately document assessments, strategies and recommendations 
  • Identify individual strengths and address barriers to employment such as soft skills, hygiene etc. 
  • Assist with completion of job task as needed
  • Teaching importance of safety, health and wellness in the workplace 

Requirements:


  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Two years of driving experience required
  • High School Diploma or GED.  It is preferred 2- or 4-year degree in a related field
  • Documented experience working and/or volunteering with individuals with disabilities or similar field preferred; Education or Ongoing Study in a related field can be considered as experience
  • Proficient in computer software such as Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must be able to pass criminal, state, and federal background checks as well as BMV checks
  • Strong decision making, time management, communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to stand for 6 hours – with the ability move about
