Description

SUMMARY:



The Bus Driver is responsible to the Director of the Physical Plant and shall possess evidence of skill proficiency required in the performance of the duties and responsibilities listed below.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • None



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




  1. Safely transport passengers to and from scheduled locations

  2. Obey all traffic laws and safety regulations for passenger buses

  3. Communicate effectively with the maintenance department

  4. Perform pre-trip inspections on the bus before each route or trip as required

  5. Complete forms, records, and reports as required

  6. Clean and service the school bus to include interior sweeping

  7. Report necessary bus repairs or damage to the maintenance department

  8. Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications


MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:




  • Have a high school diploma or GED/HSE

  • Must be a minimum of 25 years of age

  • Hold a valid Class A or B, Commercial Driver’s License and meet all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements

  • Have a satisfactory driving record that demonstrates a commitment to safety

  • At least three (3) years’ experience driving large vehicles (26,001 lbs. or more)



ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS:




  • The work environment is mostly in a vehicle or outside.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
