Job Description

Job Overview:   

Packaging Operator I operates a range of manual packaging equipment to package material for shipment. 

 

Responsibilities: 

 

  • Operates one or more of the following types of equipment: filler, OMW, sewing machine or glue closure, or stacker.  

  • Set-up equipment, perform daily inspections, and make minor adjustments to the equipment as necessary.  

  • Ensures the process safely drives quality and production to standards/targets.  

  • Samples packaged product to verify it meets standards. 

  • Identifies non-conformance events, documents events and takes appropriate actions 

  • Periodically weighs product packages to ensure weight specifications are met.  

  • Inspects supplies such as bags, bulk bags, and pallets to ensure useable quality and quantity levels are present and to inventory levels.    

  • Interacts with the computer systems for compliance, reporting, and machine set-up.  

  • Observes all safety rules, regulations, and precautions.  

  • Keeps areas clean and free of clutter.  

  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications:  

Education:  

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.  

  • Must meet the assessment requirements for this position. 

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Must be able to use technology to evaluate/communicate the status of the process/product and must pass computer literacy assessment. 

  • Must be able to understand and act upon all safety and environmental requirements and other related communications. 

  • Must be able to visually differentiate between products and be able to hear audible alarms, instructions, and commands.  

  • Must be able to read and understand Bill of Lading. 

  • Must be able to efficiently interact with and use computer systems. 

  • Must be able to comprehend and follow quality management system. 

  • Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift 

  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds frequently—duration of shift if necessary. Must be able to lift 100 pounds with assistance 

  • Bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, walking, and climbing stairways and ladders frequently 

  • Must be able to climb ladders up to 110 feet.  

  • Must be able to talk and hear radio communications as well as phone 

 

Pay Rate: $20.07
