Logistics Management Specialist – SME

Seeking functional Logistics Subject Matter Expert (SME) with expertise in RFID Systems, RFID technologies, Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) and their application within DoD and LIS. The SME will be required to provide subject matter expertise for the work described in the program/task.

  • Maintain technical proficiency in all aspects of active RFID (aRFID), passive RFID (pRFID) and AIT and stay abreast with the entire product offering and engineering changes on LIS contracts.
  • Provide direct technical engineering support to LIS CORs and customers about the aRFID, pRFID, AIT and LIS products’ technical specifications and information.
  • Monitor commercial industries new technology and product offering that could possibly impact LIS mission and product offering on the LIS contracts.
  • Review any Contractor’s product Contract Change Proposal (CCP) for acceptance, compliance, interoperability, and Government acceptance.
  • Lead/Assist in developing technical specifications on any product that may be offered on the LIS contracts.
  • Monitor progress with Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A) and Logistics Management Program (LMP) AIT device integration and provide LIS with technical recommendations to resolve any resulting issues.
  • Work closely with other LIS technical and functional stakeholders and act as the security liaison with CPE ES2 and HQDA G6 wireless policy office, DoD Logistics AIT Office, and DoD AIT Technical Laboratories.
  • Coordinate Hazards of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance (HERO) testing, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), Frequency Allocation / Management, and any other required testing with the appropriate governing agency to obtain needed certification to operate in a restricted environment.
  • Conduct initial test and evaluation of vendor’s product offerings in the contract for compliance, review of user’s manual, and ease of use.
  • Acting as POC for RFID and AIT wireless security issues, specifically as related to Army Regulation 25-2 “Information Assurance” and DOD Wireless Policy.
  • Assisting CORs in collecting data required to generate reports.
  • Reviewing the Contractor’s service report to determine trends.
  • Reviewing the LIS website’s technical specifications and providing LIS contract information updates, as required.
  • Attending technical forums, seminars, symposiums, and conferences directed by LIS and developing and conducting product demonstrations in live logistics applications.
  • Providing technical support to periodic product reviews conducted by the Government for LIS customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 12+ years of experience supporting logistics for the Department of War, specifically with the U.S. Army
  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or higher with the ability to maintain a Common Access Card

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with the RF-ITV system and infrastructure; the software and hardware requirements to support the infrastructure; frequency standards; compatibility and supportability of any AIT products in relation to the existing infrastructure.
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal oversight from the Government, conducting operational/technical testing of all RFID and AIT products.
  • Proficient in detailing product testing procedures, documenting findings, and preparing final report for dissemination to the management and LIS stakeholders.
  • Experienced and current with all of the required hardware certification i.e., (HERO, Frequency Supportability, and EMI), and other product testing needed for the AIT products to be utilized in the DoD environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO-18000-7 standards as it applies to the aRFID transponders and their applicability to DoD In-transit Visibility infrastructure.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of government and military leadership.
