JOB TITLE: Future Leader Youth Worker Program Assistant
LOCATIONS: DeSoto Club, Palmetto Club, Manatee Elementary, Rogers Elementary, Daughtrey Elementary, and Oneco Elementary
Department: Club
Reports to: Director of Graduation & Workforce Readiness
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Function: The Future Leader Program Assistant assists in the planning,
implementation, and supervision of youth activities as assigned.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES: (not all-inclusive)
· Food Program Assistant—assist with distribution of food, adhering to required protocol and safety measures, maintaining food log, cleaning up, etc.
· Cleaning Assistant—assist with maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the Club.
· Gym Assistant—conduct games with staff supervision, assist in designing games for gym play.
· Education Assistant—tutor, educational games, computer activities, etc.
· Social Recreation Assistant—conduct tournaments & special events.
· Youth Supervisor Assistant—assist in supervising children, preparing meals, and cleaning up the facility.
· Recreations Youth Supervisor Assistant—assist in supervising youth outside or in gym/game room activities, preparing snacks, conducting daily storytelling sessions.
· Arts Assistant—program assistant to the arts & crafts or nature specialist, assist with dance group activities, etc.
· Technology Lab Assistant—plan & help schedule technology center activities, teach basic functions, monitor tech lab.
· Program Aide—assist in any classroom, can also help in planning and implementation of program activities.
· Events Assistant—assist in planning and implementing events such as birthdays, holidays, and themed weeks. Assist in getting the members excited, notifying parents (creating flyers), and also participating in the events (handing out cupcakes for birthdays, decorating the club, dressing up during themed weeks, etc.).
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
- Ensure engagement, promote and stimulate participation, and consistent attendance of youth enrolled in activities.
- Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, role modeling to members and assist Club Staff with the youth’s leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement and academic progress.
- Assist in implementing and administering programs, services and activities.
- Monitor services and activities to ensure safety of members and appearance of the club at all times.
- Engaging members in activities successfully and providing a safe environment for members.
- Support members emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
- Help facilitate purposeful and engaging activities and group projects.
- Participate in training and staff development activities.
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in club staff meetings when possible.
- Maintain close, daily contact with Club Staff (professional and volunteer), Club members and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct; collaborate; and advise/counsel.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor(s), Program Manager, Club Director, or other Club Staff.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: (not all inclusive)
- This position is part time (20 hours max.)
- Must be a current Club Member.
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in high school
- Must have a 2.2 GPA or higher.
- Must be an active and cooperative participant in the GPS program (Diplomas 2 Degrees, Money Matters, Career Launch, and/or Workforce Development).
- Must be respectful and be willing to be supervised and assigned various tasks.
- Must be willing to accept feedback and redirection.
- Must have reliable transportation to/from the Club site to work assigned hours.
- Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test.
- While at work, Future Leader youth worker employee must remain on the youth side, unless directed otherwise. Teen Center is off limits while on the job.
- Strong Organization, Time Management Skills and ability to set Priorities and follow through with responsibilities.

- Strong communication, Interpersonal skills, and Attention to Detail.
- Ability to assist in monitoring youth and helping maintain a safe environment.
- Ability to assist in the planning and implementation of quality programs for youth.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Required to stand, walk, and sit. Able to use hands and fingers on a (computer) keyboard and other office equipment.
- Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds during a standard 4- or 8-hour shift.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Perform Safety-sensitive culture requiring a constant state of alertness.
It is the policy of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County that applicants for employment undergo level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment. All applicants for employment or to volunteer who are selected for an interview will be provided with the Consent to Background Screening form for level 2 screening, and/or an Affidavit of Good Moral Character. The leading candidate for employment will be required to execute the Consent form and report to a designated location and submit fingerprints for level 2 screening. No applicant for a designated position will be employed until the level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County, Office of Human Resources. Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies.
