    POSITION DESCRIPTION
     
    The School Age Care Staff is responsible for assisting the Program Supervisor in providing a safe environment for students.  They assist in planning and implementation of activities that include arts and crafts, indoor/outdoor games, educational activities, physical education, small and large group activities as well as assisting students with homework.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Experience or a desire to work with school age children. 
    • Ability to initiate, interact and encourage children in activities.
    • Ability to be a role for elementary students. 
    • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with parents, students and staff
    • Willing to learn the position and take direction from the program supervisor.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Required to have a current TB test; CPR & First Aid training certificates; blood borne pathogen training.
    • Ability to exert physical effort in sedentary to heavy work involving routine stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching.
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
     
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    • Assist the program supervisor in providing a safe environment for students.
    • Help plan and implement an activity based program including art and crafts, indoor and outdoor games, educational activities, physical education, large and small group activities.
    • Help students with homework.
    • Supervise children during activities.
    • Attend staff training and meetings
    • Other duties as assigned by the program supervisor
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  High School diploma and/or related experience.
    LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONIING SKILLS: Ability to speak and write effectively.  Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.  Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
