Job Title: Plant Controller

Job Summary:

The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a manufacturing plant while also providing strategic financial planning and analysis. This role involves managing budgets, conducting cost analyses, preparing financial reports, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Additionally, the role includes forecasting, financial modeling, and supporting strategic decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee all financial control activities of the plant
  • Budgeting: Lead and prepare the plant’s financial and capital budgeting processes.
  • Reporting: Provide daily financial reporting of production and expense metrics to plant Manager, serving as a business partner. Ad hoc reporting as requested from internal stakeholders
  • Cost Control: Implement programs to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, and reduce costs.
  • Compliance: Ensure financial control processes and systems comply with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
  • Strategic Support: Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Variance Analysis: Conduct variance analysis to compare actual results to budget and forecast, identifying key drivers and trends.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track financial and operational performance.
  • Inventory Control: internal controls in terms of existence, obsolescence monitoring & inventory turn analysis.
  • Audit: Participate in all audits as required
  • Capital projects: Creation of capital spending project analysis
  • Communicates with plant personnel and observes plant operations to assist with and to make recommendations for improvement in plant operations.
  • Special Projects as required.

 Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is required.
  • Experience: Typically requires 5-7 years of experience in a Plant Controller or Plant Accounting Leadership role in manufacturing.
  • Skills: Strong analytical skills, proficiency in financial software, excellent communication and leadership abilities, advanced Excel skills and strong Financial Presentation Skills.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of cost accounting, financial analysis, and financial modeling.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial planning and analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily office-based within the manufacturing plant.
  • May require occasional travel to other plant locations or corporate offices.
