JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
TITLE: Senior Nutritionist
PROGRAM: Health Imperatives – Plymouth WIC Program
HOURS: Monday – Friday (One Saturday per month)
REPORTS TO: Program Director
SALARY: $25.47 - $33.10 per hour
OVERVIEW: The Senior Nutritionist is a member of the Plymouth WIC program management team responsible for administering the program's nutrition services.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Plans supervise and evaluate the nutrition component of the site location.
- Ensures compliance with Federal Regulations and State Policies on all aspects of Nutrition Education and Certification of WIC clients.
- Supervises and mentors nutrition staff to ensure effective delivery of nutrition services and education to WIC families. Conducts EOS documentation, record reviews, and nutrition staff evaluations.
- Acts as Nutrition liaison between the State WIC office, Local Health Care Providers, and HI WIC program.
- Supervises the Breastfeeding Coordinator and assists with the development implementation and evaluation of breastfeeding promotion and support activities.
- Provides Individual and Group Nutrition Education Counseling and Certification in a highly client-sensitive way.
- Attends WIC nutritionist Work Group and Business meetings and other required meetings at the WIC Learning Center.
- Works as a team with the Program Director and Community Coordinator to develop outreach and referral networks.
- Oversees provision and evaluation of nutrition education for local farmers’ markets.
- As needed, providers provide training to community agencies and health care providers on WIC's nutritional aspects, WIC food package and nutrition updates, and breastfeeding promotion.
- Other duties as required by the Program.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics AND one of the following: Master's degree in public health nutrition, nutrition, foods, and nutrition, OR Nutrition education and (1) year post-graduate community nutrition experience OR Registered Dietitian with (1) year post-graduate community nutrition experience OR Bachelor's degree in public health nutrition, nutrition, or nutrition education and (2) years post-graduate community nutrition experience. Two years providing WIC Nutrition education and counseling; experience in program planning and administration; strong leadership and decision-making skills; excellent communication skills; sensitivity to participants' needs, including strong, client-centered service skills and cultural competency. Demonstrate strong teamwork skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed Nutritionist or Registered Dietitian Preferred
Certified Lactation Consultant or CLC eligible.
