Job Summary: We are Seeking a motivated and detail-oriented New Model Quality Intern to join our dynamic team at Nifco America Corp. This internship provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the automotive industry, focusing on quality assurance processes within plastic injection molding. You will work directly under the guidance of the New Model Quality Manager and collaborate with various engineering teams to support the successful introduction of new automotive models.
Essential Functions:
- Digital Documentation Project:
Lead a significant project to transition all paper documentation at the press to a digital format. This will involve system analysis, data organization, and collaboration with engineering teams to streamline processes. - Project Presentation:
At the conclusion of your internship, create and deliver a comprehensive presentation to management showcasing the progress made on the digital documentation project, along with recommendations for continued improvements. - Quality Assurance Support:
Engage in various tasks as needed, including but not limited to: - Writing Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEAs) and Control Plans
- Completing customer datasheets
- Analyzing lab data to ensure quality standards
- Assisting in the development of Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP)
- Participating in root-cause-countermeasure projects related to new model development
- Team Collaboration:
Work closely with the New Model Quality team, Project Engineering teams, and other engineering departments to facilitate effective communication and workflow throughout the product development cycle. - Travel Requirements:
Be prepared to travel up to one week per month to collaborate on-site with other engineering teams as required by project needs.
Education:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
Skills/Experience/Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Previous experience or coursework related to quality assurance or automotive manufacturing is a plus, but not required.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this internship, you will gain valuable insights into the automotive product development process, from design inception through to mass production. You will develop critical professional skills, including project management, data analysis, and effective communication with OEMs and Tier manufacturers.
