Salary Range: $27.00 - $29.00 per hour
Summary/Objective
The IT Generalist at Daybreak Independent Services is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the organization's IT infrastructure and systems. The role involves hands-on support, managing networks, troubleshooting issues, and implementing cost-effective technology solutions in alignment with the organization's business goals. This position requires a well-rounded IT professional with broad experience across multiple areas, including hardware, software, networking, system security, and user support. The IT Generalist will report directly to the DOO and work closely with various departments to meet their technology needs.
Essential Functions
Infrastructure Management:
Manage, maintain, and monitor the organization’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware, and software systems. Ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
Technical Support:
Provide prompt and effective technical support to staff via phone, email, and in-person. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues. Assist users with daily operational challenges related to IT systems.
Software & Systems Management:
Install, configure, and maintain software, operating systems, and applications across various platforms, including Google Workspace, Google OS devices, Windows, and mobile devices. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control.
Network & Security:
Monitor and manage network performance, security systems, and protocols (LAN, WAN, VPN). Maintain firewalls, antivirus software, and other security measures to safeguard data integrity and prevent breaches.
Backup & Recovery:
Perform daily backups, manage recovery processes, and ensure the organization's data is secure. Implement disaster recovery solutions and procedures.
Procurement & Inventory Management:
Manage the purchasing of IT equipment, including computers, phones, and software, in collaboration with the DOO. Maintain inventory records and ensure hardware/software assets are up-to-date.
System Upgrades & Improvements:
Plan, recommend, and implement upgrades to improve IT infrastructure efficiency and performance. Stay informed on new technologies and best practices that align with Daybreak’s needs.
Training & Documentation:
Provide training to staff on IT systems and software. Develop and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and system procedures.
Compliance & Standards:
Ensure IT systems and processes comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant IT regulations.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in IT support or as an IT Generalist, Network Administrator, or similar role, with a focus on troubleshooting and managing IT systems.
- Hands-on experience with Google Workspace, Google OS devices, and Windows environments.
- Familiarity with Ubiquiti (Unifi) networking equipment is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software and hardware across multiple platforms (PCs, Chrome Devices, mobile devices).
- Strong knowledge of network infrastructure management (LAN, WAN, VPN), firewall management, and system security protocols.
- Experience in backup and recovery systems.
- Working knowledge of server virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Expertise in troubleshooting and solving technical issues efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize.
- Self-motivated, forward-thinking, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to take initiative in improving IT processes.
Other Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands & Working Environment
- Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs., with frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- The position is primarily office-based, with occasional travel to other company locations.
- The work environment can be noisy and fast-paced, requiring focus and adaptability.
