Job Description

Roanoke County Public Schools (RCPS) is currently seeking applicants for a PBIS Coach position at Burlington Elementary School for the 2026-2027 School Year. This position is a 186 day contract, 7.33 hours/day, eligible for benefits on RCPS Pay Grade 113.

Position Description/Job Summary: Perform responsible human support and paraprofessional work assisting classroom teachers or other professionals to achieve behavioral objectives, assisting students with achieving established goals and “social/emotional regulation."

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

·Assist with the development and implementation of Positive Behavioral Supports and Interventions (PBIS) to meet the social and emotional needs of our students.

·Provide direct support to students and staff to minimize disruptions to the learning environment.

·Work with and develop rapport with teachers, administrators, and support staff for targeted students to help create a positive working environment that supports behavior and teaching methods throughout the school.

·Collaborate with school counselors to implement social, emotional and behavioral support to students (i.e., support school counselors with the contest for Expect Respect and activities related to Kindness or Red Ribbon Week). 

·Attend PBIS team meetings.

·Assist with “Check In/Check Out” meetings to support students in the building.

·Import and export data from the PBIS database.

·Assist with the creation and updates to school-wide and classroom matrices

·Complete required Virginia Autism training, 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician Training, MANDT training, and any other training requirements subscribed by RCPS

·Knowledge and correct implementation of communication skills, social skills, challenging behavior, self-help skills, data collection, and sensory issues.

·Performs related work as required or assigned.

Education and Experience:

·Minimum high school diploma or GED Equivalent.

·A minimum of two (2) years college experience OR successfully completed Parapro Assessment is required at some schools.

·Experience working with children is preferred.

Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications:

Has strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills. Strong work ethic, highly motivated with solid organizational skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, the general public and associates; ability to work under pressure. Very dependable; able to work independently at all times; ability to multi-task and/or continue a long/complicated task seamlessly through multiple interruptions.
