TITLE: Maintenance Foreman


 


PRIMARY FUNCTION


To supervise and participate in the daily maintenance, repair, and upkeep of school division facilities and grounds, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established standards and applicable regulations.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Experience in building maintenance, construction trades, or related field; supervisory experience preferred 

  • Ability to lead and work effectively with maintenance staff, school personnel, and contractors 

  • Ability to perform the essential physical functions of the position, including climbing ladders; moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds; standing for extended periods; walking, reaching (overhead and horizontally), and pushing or pulling objects; and operating maintenance equipment and tools, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to noise, temperature extremes, chemicals, and furnace or boiler byproducts 

  • Working knowledge of general building maintenance practices (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC basics, etc.) 

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively 

  • Basic computer skills for work orders and reporting systems 

  • Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to facility maintenance 


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Supervise and participate in the daily work of assigned maintenance staff and/or work crews 

  • Perform and coordinate routine and emergency maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment 

  • Assist in assigning, prioritizing, and monitoring work orders to ensure timely completion 

  • Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with standards 

  • Assist in maintaining HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and other building systems 

  • Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles required for maintenance and repair work 

  • Assist in maintaining compliance with safety regulations and school division policies 

  • Report facility needs, safety concerns, and major repair issues to the Maintenance Coordinator 

  • Assist in training and guiding maintenance staff in proper procedures and safety practices 

  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time reporting as required 

  • Support setup, repair, and maintenance needs for school events and activities 

  • Perform additional duties as assigned 


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT


Twelve-month contract. Salary based on the Maintenance Foreman Scale.


REPORTS TO: Maintenance Coordinator/ Director of Finance and Operations


FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
