Performs advanced managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning for the Server Branch within the Infrastructure Section. This position manages teams of server administrators, managing systems such as Windows, Citrix, and Linux and the associated tooling and sub-systems. Work involves establishing strategic plans, goals, and objectives; developing policies, procedures, and guidelines; establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools for determining progress in meeting goals; coordinating and evaluating program activities and/or business functions. Supervises a group of professional and technical employees. Responsible for the oversight for the Branch's strategic portfolio plan; coordinating the planning and initiation of a portfolio of projects and service delivery contracts at various levels of completion; monitoring the progress, budgets, and schedules of portfolios; and communicating with portfolio and project stakeholders, management, and other relevant parties. Reports to the Infrastructure Section Director. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Duties:

•    Compiles and distributes project information, status reports, and project budget expenditures.
•    Consults with districts, divisions and other agencies regarding issues related to project development and design.
•    Develop criteria for evaluating programs, proposals, and other pertinent information related to areas of responsibility.
•    Directs, develops, and evaluates projects using accepted project management methodologies.
•    Manages a group of professional and technical staff.
•    Monitors and manage project quality to ensure project deliverables are acceptable and fulfill the terms of the project contract or specifications.
•    Oversees and establishes program goals and objectives, approves schedules, priorities and standards for achieving goals and directs program evaluation activities.
•    Oversees the resource allocation and administration of the centralized project delivery program staff and supports project delivery functions to ensure responsiveness to the organization's functional responsibilities and meet the needs of the division.
•    Reviews and approves proposed changes to project parameters and changes to original project plan and budget; oversees implementation of changes.
•    Manages the daily operations of the Enterprise Architecture, Cloud Services, and Vulnerability Management team and oversees complex IT business functions.
•    Develop project plans including strategy definition, project forecast allocation, timelines and milestones and contingency planning.
•    Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Experience

  • 5 years experience in IT server or network operations or related activities. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
  • Must have two (2) years supervisory/managerial experience. Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.

•    Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
