Camp on the Lake is taking applications for bus drivers to drive for Park Cities, Town North and Lake Highlands/Richardson YMCA campers to and from Camp on the Lake. Camp on the Lake (COTL) is located on Lake Lewisville in Highland Village.
Candidate is responsible for safely transporting campers and staff. Will conduct daily maintenance inspection checklist daily before vehicle leaves YMCA. Must test brakes in the parking lot before vehicle enters public roadways. Must visually monitor gauges while vehicle is operating. Must report any problem with vehicle to Camp Director. Must comply with YMCA Vehicle Safety Rules at all times and follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies. Must adhere to route schedule as planned by Camp Director. Must be positive role model for children in consistently using of seat belts/shoulder harness. Must maintain clean and safe interior of vehicle by promptly disposing of trash, cleaning up spills, etc. Must assist counselors in ensuring well-being of children through enforcement of safety rules: children are to be seated at all times while the vehicle is in motion, children may not extend arms, heads, or legs through open windows when the vehicle is in motion, staff are to be seated next to doors. Must physically assist and visually monitor children while boarding/de-boarding vehicle. Will share any significant information about the campers and staff with Camp Director.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 25 years of age with proof of age
- Must have 2 or more years driving a 66 passenger bus
- Must have current Texas Drivers’ License, CDL with air brake endorsement
- Must have current medical certificate
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to adjust from sitting to standing with ease.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Must have a positive attitude.
- Must be able to follow instructions individually
- Must relate to elementary school age children
- Must be able to attend Durham Bus Training in late May/early June
- Must complete Safety Series Training 30 days from hire which includes but is not limited to CPR/First Aid, Sexual Harassment, Child Abuse Awareness, and New Staff Orientation.
