Job Description
Role Mission
The Application Engineering Manager manages a team of Application Engineers within assigned scope (specific Product Group and/or Territory) and is responsible for ensuring high quality and timely Pre-Sales Support to our internal sales team, partners, systems integrators, and end-users. Success will generate incremental sales of our products by securing long-term business relationships with end users and resellers of Datalogic’s products, solutions, and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the activities of the Pre-Sales Application Engineering team within assigned Product Group and/or Territory and define project prioritization partnering with Sales and Product business developers
- Visit customers together with sales to collect application requirements and needs and collaborate with after-sales department to support Customers along the whole selling process
- Coordinate critical customer situations and lead the escalation process to support the entire service and quality organization in providing timely solutions.
- Coordinate the training activities for Datalogic sales force and partners, using the training material provided by Product Marketing
- Support Product Managers and Product Business Developers in new product introduction with beta testing and training
- Define and manage the laboratory equipment needed
- Monitor the performance of the team in order to meet the assigned objectives in terms of sales revenue, customer satisfaction, and sales team satisfaction
- Support R&D and Product Managers in: new product requirement definition, new product application needs collection, beta-testing and training
- Supervise marketing activities like training and exhibitions (e.g. demo setup).
Requirements
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering or computer science
• Languages: Fluency in German and English; additional languages are a plus
• Experience: 10+ years of experience in a similar role, dealing with customers belonging to the AIDC/IA environment and managing a team of Application Engineers.
Other Information & Specific Skills
- Strong background in the PDA/PDT/Tablet products with comprehensive Software and Solution knowledge and skills
- Excellent technical understanding of electronic devices and circuits and ability to read technical documentation (e.g. electrical schematics, technical data sheets) are a must.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and organizational skills, a leader with a problem solver attitude, result oriented and with a high level of autonomy.
