High School Cheerleading Coach
Job Description
Purpose: To help students improve individual performance; demonstrate that improvement in local and state competition; and develop into mature, able and responsible citizens. As many of their duties will include supervising groups of children without the benefit of additional help or administrative supervision, the job requires significant self-discipline, internal motivation, and sound judgment.
Responsible to: Athletics/Activites Director
Payment Rate: Salary to be established by the Board of Education
Qualifications:
- Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made).
- Hold a valid building-level license issued by the Kansas State Board of Education or as exempted by Rule 10, if applicable.
- Ability to work cooperatively and constructively with others, including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.
- Ability to manage job responsibilities and meet the established district outcomes.
- Ability to use, as needed, district-identified computer hardware and software, and other district-provided technology.
- Ability to physically adapt to the compressed time schedule of a school day and year.
- Implements and follows all District health and safety policies.
General Functions:
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all aspects of student and school related issues.
- Communicates and works effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor and in accordance with USD 409 Board of Education policy.
- Reacts to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, and handles other tasks as assigned.
- Works to implement the vision and mission of the District.
- Regular attendance is required of all employees subject to allowed leave in accordance with district policy or negotiated agreement, as appropriate. Excessive absences or tardiness, unauthorized leave or unexcused absences may result in disciplinary action including termination of employment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversees safe and orderly activity environments. By creating a safe and orderly environments that facilitates positive behavior and learning for all students.
- Takes appropriate action when students exhibit emotionally/physically distressed behaviors.
- Supervises students as assigned.
- Ensures improved performance for all participants by monitoring the progress of individual students and student groups through the use of appropriate evaluation techniques and with the assistance of technology when appropriate.
- Building positive school/community relations by supporting the mission of the school and district.
- Facilitates cooperation between all persons in the school community.
- Leading students in developing constructive peer and coach/sponsor relations.
- Assists students to develop appropriate communications skills.
- Assist students in development of thinking skills appropriate to the activity.
- Follows all district policies, handbooks, and regulations.
- Oversees effective and efficient individual and group performance, by setting high expectations for all students based on their individual needs.
- Uses a variety of materials, activities and approaches appropriate to the needs of individual students.
- Practices responsible fiscal, facility, and resource management by establishing behavior guidelines that ensure the care and maintenance of district facilities and equipment.
- Procures supplies and equipment following building budget guidelines.
- Models positive professional attributes by participating in appropriate professional activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Uses written and spoken language well.
- Handling public/press relations in a timely, legal and effective manner.
- Maintain hours sufficient to meet job expectations and turning in the required timesheets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
