Position Summary
The Principal Investigator (PI) serves as the senior scientific and technical authority responsible for ensuring the rigor, integrity, and quality of all scientific and research-related activities under the contract. The PI provides strategic scientific leadership, oversees study design and execution, and ensures that all deliverables meet NIH standards for excellence in research and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide scientific leadership and oversight for all research, evaluation, and technical activities
- Ensure adherence to scientific protocols, regulatory requirements, and human subjects protections
- Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of research methodologies and analytical frameworks
- Oversee data integrity, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of findings
- Collaborate with NIH leadership, investigators, and stakeholders on scientific priorities and deliverables
- Review and approve technical outputs, publications, and reports for accuracy and quality
- Guide multidisciplinary teams in applying best practices in scientific research and program evaluation
Serve as subject matter expert and advisor on scientific and technical issues
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline
- Minimum Experience: Fifteen (15)+ years of experience leading scientific research, evaluation, or technical programs
- Demonstrated experience in clinical research, biomedical research, or public health research environments
- Strong background in research design, data analysis, and scientific publication
- Experience leading large, complex, federally funded research programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience serving as PI on NIH or other federal research contracts or grants
- Experience with clinical trials, regulatory compliance, and IRB processes
- Record of peer-reviewed publications and scientific leadership
- Experience managing multidisciplinary scientific teams across multiple sites
