Summer Grounds Keeper  

Job Summary

The grounds keeper is responsible for maintaining assigned exterior areas. Employees will work closely with their immediate supervisor to provide a safe and clean environment for students, teachers and other staff. The grounds keeper may be assigned to special projects related to the needs of the district.


Qualifications and Requirements 

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrate use of grounds keeping equipment
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license


Essential Functions and Representative Duties

  • Keeps assigned exterior areas and premises including sidewalks safe, neat and clean at all time, in attractive condition according to district standards as appropriate to the assignment
  • Mowing, weeding, mulching, some trimming, and occasional light hauling are expected
  • Operates equipment, i.e. lawn mowers, tractor, trimmers, etc.
  • Documents daily work activities on forms as established for the program/assignment.
  • Reports supply and repair needs to immediate supervisor
  • Performs minor repairs, preventive maintenance and maintains equipment/ grounds.
  • Must be physically able to bend, stoop, lift, squat, carry, stand, climb, push/pull and use other
    motor skills necessary to perform the essential duties as needed
  • Follows daily work schedules and communicates work that was not completed to supervisor

 

REPORTS TO: 

Maintenance Supervisor; Director of Operations

 

COMPENSATION:   

$15.08  per hour
