Position Summary:
The Maintenance Assistant performs semi-skilled work for and with the Facilities Maintenance Director in the maintenance and repairs of the buildings components, systems and equipment and ancillary areas.
Occupational Skills:

· Ability to follow oral and written instructions
· Ability to exercise good judgement and tact in dealing with vendors, residents, resident families and staff members
· Ability to use common hand tools
· Minimal plumbing knowledge
· Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, technical materials and instruction guides
· Walking, standing, reaching, stooping, squatting, turning, pivoting and bending as needed
· Ability to lift and carry items up to 50lbs
· Ability to work independently under general supervision
Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
· Highschool or General Education Diploma (GED)
· Previous experience in Maintenance or similar field preferred
Essential Job Duties:
· Checks that all building lights are functioning
· Assist in installing, repairing and maintaining water-processing equipment
· Gain knowledge of Safety Regulations
· Assist in monitoring, maintaining and reporting of fire suppression system
· Keeping maintenance ship organized
· Assists in basic repairs of facility including painting, installing/replacing light bulbs, plumbing, and basic carpentry.
· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and managers as needed
· Attend mandatory in-service meetings
