    BUS MECHANIC

    NOTE:  ALL VACANCY POSTINGS ARE PENDING UNTIL BOARD APPROVED

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    01. High School diploma or GED
    02. Preferred (2-3) years experience as auto service worker
    03. Valid Georgia Class "B" CDL with P and S endorsements, and verification of an acceptable seven (7) years driving record (may obtain within six (6) months of hire)-Preferred
    04. Able to do heavy lifting and work at physically demanding tasks
    05. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

     

    REPORTS TO: Transportation Director and Bus Shop Supervisor
    SUPERVISES: None
    JOB GOAL:      To help provide safe and efficient vehicles for the transportation of students and staff 

     

    01. Schedules regular inspection of vehicles
    02. Diagnoses and repairs school system vehicles as needed, both in the shop and on the road
    03. Maintains inventory of needed materials for maintenance and repair of vehicle
    04. Drives a school bus route as needed
    05. Obeys all traffic laws and policies of the state and local BOE and operates vehicle in a safe and efficient manner
    06. Obeys all mandatory safety regulations for school buses and maintains all safety features of vehicles
    07. Completes legible and accurate reports as required by the system
    08. Notifies supervisor in case of mechanical failure or other problems
    09. Reports all accidents and completes required reports
    10. Assists in keeping the shop clean and safe
    11. Attends staff development sessions as scheduled by the Transportation Director
    12. Maintains a high level of attendance and punctuality
    13. Performs other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position

     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
