As a Line Cook for our signature dining outlets and room service, you will be the heart of our kitchen. We are looking for someone who takes pride in consistent execution, high food safety standards, and delivering a taste of Baton Rouge hospitality to every guest.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Station Excellence: Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies; execute daily prep (chopping, butchering, and sauce prep) to ensure a smooth service.
  • Precision Cooking: Prepare menu items to order following established recipes. Coordinate with the kitchen team so all plates for a table are served simultaneously at the perfect temperature.
  • Quality & Presentation: Maintain high-quality flavor and appearance standards, following the Executive Chef’s plating and garnishing guidelines.
  • Safety First: Maintain a sanitized workspace and strictly follow all local health department and nutrition regulations.
  • Inventory Control: Assist with food deliveries using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method and report any food waste or low stock.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with Front of House (servers and room service) to handle special dietary requests and allergies with urgency and accuracy.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience as a Line Cook (Hotel or high-volume experience preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in grilling, sautéing, frying, and superior knife skills.
  • Certifications: Valid Food Handlers card or ServSafe certification required.
  • Availability: Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

  • Kitchen Environment: Ability to work in extreme temperatures (hot grills/walk-in freezers) and a loud, fast-paced atmosphere.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for 8–10 hours and move constantly between stations.
  • Strength: Must be able to safely lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Dexterity: Repetitive use of hands/wrists for fine-motor tasks (dicing, plating) and the ability to bend, reach, and crouch.
  • Sensory: Ability to distinguish subtle flavors and smells; clear vision to monitor cooking and read tickets.

Why Join A&R Group at Hotel Indigo?

  • Competitive Pay and steady hours in a premier downtown location.
  • Hotel Discounts: Incredible room rates at IHG properties worldwide.
  • Growth: Clear pathways for promotion within A&R Group’s hospitality portfolio.
