Job Description

Are you an experienced CNC operator, or are you mechanically inclined, dependable, safety-focused, and interested in learning a skilled trade? If you answered yes to either of those questions, we have a great opportunity for you here at JGM in Coatesville.

This is a strong opportunity to grow.

We are looking to add a motivated CNC Operator to our 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM–2:30 AM) at our structural steel fabrication facility in Coatesville.

Working as part of a small crew, this role will work with CNC equipment, including beam drill line (BDL) and Python-style plate processing equipment, to cut, drill, punch, mark, and prepare steel components for fabrication.

Having experience with the following is helpful: CNC machinery, structural steel, fabrication drawings, measuring tools, overhead cranes, and material handling

But we are willing to train the right person.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC beam line and Python/plate processing equipment
  • Load, position, and unload structural steel material safely
  • Read basic work orders, cut lists, drawings, and part markings
  • Measure material and verify dimensions for accuracy
  • Monitor machine operation and adjust as needed
  • Support drilling, coping, cutting, punching, layout, and part identification
  • Maintain quality, productivity, and safe work practices
  • Work as part of a fabrication team building large-scale structural steel projects

This is a hands-on production role with training provided. The ideal candidate has strong attendance, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn CNC equipment used in structural steel fabrication.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude with an interest in hands-on, equipment-based work
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math (fractions, decimals)
  • Willingness to learn CNC equipment, including beam drill line (BDL) and Python/plate processing systems — training provided
  • Ability to follow work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic in a production environment
  • Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and handle physical tasks (lifting, positioning materials, etc.)
  • Comfortable working in a shop environment (noise, dust, temperature changes)
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to take directions and learn from experienced operators

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Prior experience in manufacturing, construction, or fabrication
  • Exposure to CNC equipment, plasma cutting, drilling, or machining
  • Experience operating forklifts or overhead cranes
  • Ability to read basic fabrication drawings or blueprints

Why JGM?

Overtime

  • Full benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k w/ match)
  • Paid training and career growth
  • A team that works hard and has each other’s backs
  • Daily snack and drink card
