Activity Aide

Job Summary:

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Activity Aide to join our team at Evercare of Calhoun in Hardin, Illinois. As an Activity Aide, you will assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational, social, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual programs for our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to create a warm and welcoming environment that promotes the physical, social, and mental well-being of our residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, and evaluating activity programs and quality assurance programs for the Activities Department
• Observe and document resident attendance, mood, behavior, and degree of involvement to evaluate facility activities and resident progress
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with other departments to ensure seamless daily activities
• Prepare activity rooms/areas for scheduled programs and recommend equipment and supply needs
• Clean up activity areas after functions and maintain confidentiality of resident care information
• Oversee residents engaged in scheduled activities to promote their physical, social, and mental well-being
• Assist residents with daily living activities, such as visiting, writing letters, and running errands
• Maintain a calm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the facility

Qualifications:

• Experience in Long Term Care Activities Department is preferred but not necessary
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday
• Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies
• Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times
• Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet
