GRADE LEVEL:  Union

DEPARTMENT: Distribution Construction & Maintenance

STARTING SALARY:  $28.94/hr.

JOB FAMILY SUMMARY PURPOSE:  

Under the direction of the Manager – Distribution Construction and Maintenance, is responsible for representing the Company in the installation and removal of security and streetlights with various customers, governmental agencies, and contractors by preparing designs and completing work orders for service within the assigned service territory.

EDUCATION:

Associate’s degree in Business or related field; OR an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

  1. Experience in Customer Service, or similar capacity preferred.
  2. Knowledge of the principles of electricity and electrical engineering design, drafting techniques, distribution construction standards and practices, Company’s engineering and distribution operations and procedures, and applicable electrical and safety codes and standards.
  3. Knowledge of general accounting and filing procedures.
  4. Ability to operate a personal computer and use various computer software applications, organize numerous projects, meet deadlines, and follow-up procedures on projects to assure customer satisfaction. 
  5. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual preferred.
  6. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public.
  7. Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:      

  1. Meets with customers that are requesting installation and/or removal of security lighting to discuss parameters, rules and regulations, cost, service voltages, point of service, and accurate service dates.
  2. Interprets and enforces the Company’s rules and regulations regarding security lighting.
  3. Meets with governmental agencies to discuss installation and/or removal of street lighting.
  4. Provides information on the Company’s requirements and resolves possible design conflicts with customers, contractors, governmental agencies and other utilities.
  5. Prepares, reviews and secures agreements and prepares billing correspondence connected with lighting in accordance with the Company’s Line Extension Policy.
  6. Prepares sketches and work orders for the installation and removal of security lamps and street lighting for construction.
  7. Determine service voltages, load requirements, point of service, accurate service required dates and acquire all the necessary plans and information for streetlight engineering design purposes.
  8. Design simple work orders for overhead and underground electrical distribution facilities related to streetlighting and private lighting.  This would include drawings, construction specifications, material and labor costs, and coordinate all Company-related activities with the customer and/or his agent(s), crew supervisors and other departments to meet the customer’s service required date.
  9. Maintain communication with customers requesting new or additional service and provide information in accordance with Company Rules and Regulations.
  10. Responsible for the project management of all jobs by coordinating all Company-related activities with the Construction Scheduler, Crew Supervisor, Customer Care, Billing and other departments, as needed to assure customer satisfaction.
  11. Coordinates activities with EPE crews and contractors to assure completion of project.
  12. Stake locations of all new and replacement overhead and underground electrical facilities with respect to streetlighting/ private lighting.  Ensure all documentation is attained prior to construction and that the site is ready.
  13. Establishes customer accounts, initiates service billing to include billing adjustments and other related customer correspondence.
  14. Prepares various reports for Management, including analytical, operational and progress reports related to lighting and vegetation management.
  15. Asist in administering work assignments for contractor through vegetation management program/application and perform periodic field verifications of work completed.
  16. Adheres to applicable construction methods, concepts, policies, standards, safety codes and procedures and practices.
  17. Valid driver’s license and be in compliance with the Company’s Driving Program policy. 
  18. Comply with all applicable Company policies, procedures and code of ethics as well as all applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety and environmental standards and regulations. 
  19. Perform other related tasks that are not included but are within the context of the duties defined.
