The Inclusion Coordinator supports the YMCA’s Integration Initiative by helping individuals with disabilities successfully participate in programs across the organization. This role partners with families, staff, and program leaders to identify appropriate supports, coordinate accommodations, and promote inclusive practices.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serving as a point of contact for families and participants seeking inclusion support
- Coordinating intake meetings and identifying appropriate programs and accommodations
- Supporting staff through training, guidance, and shared best practices
- Assisting with implementation of individualized support plans and adaptive tools
- Building positive relationships with participants, families, staff, and volunteers
- Supporting program delivery, including occasional direct instruction or on-site support
This position is approximately 15–20 hours per week, including afternoons and occasional weekends.
Requirements
- Background in special education, therapeutic recreation, human services, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities in recreational, educational, or community settings
- Basic understanding of IEPs, behavior supports, and inclusive practices
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
- Comfortable supporting staff and families in a collaborative environment
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
- Successful completion of required background checks
