Job Summary:

Lucchese Boots are the highest quality cowboy boots in the industry. The utility operator (Goodyear) will support the Goodyear department in various roles based on business needs. Such as helping in Laying outsoles, inseam trim, pull staples, Stitch outsoles, Furnish repairs, Bottom pound, welt butt, toe trim, and lay steel shank. The utility operator completes various operations in the department and serves as a potential backup in case of other employee absences.

Scope of job: 

The utility for the goodyear department involves a range of tasks that contribute to the overall quality and efficiency of the manufacturing process and should be familiar with and able to operate various small machines used in the department, and other tools to assist others in completing production goals for the day. As well for working within a team environment, the utility operator must be able to collaborate with other team members to ensure a smooth production process. This role requires flexibility, technical proficiency across multiple stations, attention to detail, and adherence to production and quality expectations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Utility will perform following operations on an as-needed basis:

  • Laying outsole operator – is essential for ensuring the outsole is securely attached to the boot providing durability and support.
  • Stitch Outsole operator – With a Stich outsole machine vertical stitching through the upper, midsole, and outsole.
  • Bottom Pound operator– is responsible for the final finishing of the boot's sole. Using a machine to shape and smooth the sole, ensuring a precise and durable finish.
  • Welt Butt operator- connecting the upper parts of the boot to its sole.
  • Toe Trim operator- with a toe trim machine will be responsible for shaping the toe of the boot.
  • Inseam trim operator- operator is responsible for operating the machine that trims the edges of inseam to remove excess material.
  • Pull staples operator-involves setting up the machine, feeding materials, and ensuring the correct placement of staples.
  • Lay steel shank operator- ensuring that the boots are properly fitted and equipped with shank support and stability.
  • Furnish Repairs- helping the department with repairs and taking apart boot if needed.
  • Main a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
  • Support production goals while maintaining Lucchese quality standards.
  • Comply with all safety, environmental, and company policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Quality & Production Expectations:

  • Meet daily production targets established by the department.
  • Maintain high first-pass yield with minimal rework.
  • Immediately escalate machine malfunctions or quality concerns to supervisor.
  • Demonstrate commitment to craftmanship and continuous improvement.

Education, Experience, and/or Certifications:

  • Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years related manufacturing experience. 

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to work standing the entire shift up to (8 hours).
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. 
  • Must be able to work with adhesives.
  • Frequent use of hands, wrist, and fingers for repetitive movement.
  • Ability to maintain focus and precision throughout repetitive tasks
