About Job
We're seeking a hands-on Robotics Technician who thrives in a research environment and enjoys solving practical engineering challenges. You'll be responsible for the full lifecycle of robotic hardware — from sourcing components and assembling custom systems to maintaining operational readiness and continuous improvement of our data collection infrastructure.
Job Descriptions
Source, evaluate, and procure robotic components including arms, grippers, sensors, cameras, and supporting hardware from multiple vendors
Build and integrate mechanical, electrical, and 3D-printed components into functional robotic systems
Establish preventive maintenance schedules and perform routine calibration, testing, and quality checks
Diagnose and resolve hardware failures quickly to maximize system uptime
Create and maintain documentation including equipment specs, maintenance logs, and troubleshooting guides
Work closely with robotics engineers to prototype new hardware configurations and test design iterations
Set up and configure workstations for data collection operations
Train data collectors on proper equipment handling and basic troubleshooting
Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with vendors on warranties and repairs
Champion safety best practices and maintain an organized, efficient workshop
Job Requirements
Associate degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Robotics Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
2+ years working with electromechanical systems, industrial robots, or automated equipment
Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications
Hands-on experience with 3D printing (FDM/SLA) including post-processing and material selection
Working knowledge of sensors (force/torque, IMUs, encoders) and actuators (servos, stepper motors)
Comfortable using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic instruments
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently on troubleshooting
Excellent organizational skills and attention to documentation
Preferred
Experience with collaborative robotic arms (Universal Robots, Franka Emika, Dobot, etc.)
Familiarity with gripper technologies (parallel jaw, suction, soft robotics, custom end effectors)
Basic understanding of ROS or robotic control systems
Experience with motion capture systems or computer vision hardware setup
Background in procurement, vendor relationships, or supply chain coordination
Knowledge of machine shop tools and light fabrication
