Mall Security Officer – Job Description

Position Summary

The Mall Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for shoppers, tenants, and staff. This role involves patrolling mall property, responding to incidents, enforcing property rules, and providing excellent customer service while ensuring protection of assets and public safety.


Key Responsibilities

Security & Safety

  • Conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols throughout the mall, including parking areas, common spaces, service corridors, and restricted areas.
  • Monitor surveillance systems (CCTV) and report suspicious behavior or activities.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances, emergencies, and requests for assistance.
  • Enforce mall policies, rules, and regulations to prevent theft, vandalism, and unsafe behavior.
  • Control access to restricted areas and verify credentials when necessary.

Incident Response & Reporting

  • Provide first response in medical emergencies, fires, evacuations, and security incidents.
  • Prepare clear, accurate written reports on daily activities, safety hazards, and incidents.
  • Work closely with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical personnel when required.

Customer Service

  • Offer assistance and directions to shoppers and tenants.
  • Provide a visible, friendly, and professional presence to enhance the visitor experience.
  • Support mall management and retailers with security-related concerns.

Loss Prevention

  • Observe potential theft or fraud incidents and take appropriate action in compliance with policies.
  • Assist retailers in resolving security issues and conducting investigations when authorized.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Prior security, law enforcement, military, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
  • Valid security guard license (NC PPSB License)  We can provide this training.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
