Purpose Statement
The job of Director - Pathfinder Services is done for the purpose/s of of assisting the Senior Director – Expedition Behavioral Education in the administration and behavioral programming of the Pathfinder Services Program, encompassing management and leadership functions required to ensure a successful educational program which serves students whose educational needs are primarily the result of significant social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
Essential Functions
Eligibility and Service Coordination Assists the building team to determine eligibility and coordinate the delivery of appropriate services for new referrals, working with referred students, their teachers, and families for the purpose of modifying inappropriate behavior.
Program Development Assists with the development and implementation of program philosophy, mission, and goals for the purpose of effective operations of program.
Functional Behavior Assessment Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments and develops comprehensive Behavior Intervention Plans for the purpose of including as a part of the student's IEP/IFSP.
Needs Assessment and Data Analysis Conducts ongoing needs assessments and collects and analyzes data to refine and improve operational functions and services for the purpose of continuing improvement and planning.
Practical Functional Assessment Conducts Practical Functional Assessments and develops comprehensive Skills-Based Treatment plans for the purpose of including them as a part of the student's intervention package.
Partnership Development Develops and maintains productive relationships and partnerships with community agencies, school districts, families, and local, state, and federal government entities for the purpose of ensuring continuity of program philosophy, mission, and goals.
Data Monitoring Ensures ongoing data collection and monitoring of data for the purpose of developing and/or recommending program changes.
Organizational Management Establishes building/program guidelines and procedures for effective organizational management for the purpose of planning and leading designated meetings, staff professional development, and coaching.
Safety Procedures Establishes guidelines and procedures to ensure the safety of personnel and programs for the purpose of assisting with effective and safe operations of the program.
Staff Management Facilitates the selection, supervision, and evaluation of all staff for the purpose of assisting with effective operations of the program.
Record Maintenance Maintains manual and electronic files and/or records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail or compliance with ESD, local, state, and federal regulations.
Evaluation Team Participation Participates as a member of the evaluation team and IEP/IFSP committee for the purpose of contributing evaluation findings and/or collaborating on the child's educational program plan.
Professional Development Training Provides ongoing training in the area of applied behavior analysis for the purpose of providing staff with professional development opportunities.
Professional Supervision Provides supervision and mentorship for fellow Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) for the purpose of compliance with policies and procedures detailed by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB).
Liaison Services Serves as a liaison between the local school districts and Capital Region ESD 113 for the purpose of delivering services in conformance with established objectives.
Travel Requirements Travels to school districts, as needed, for the purpose of performing the essential functions of the position.
Crisis Intervention Utilizes appropriate crisis prevention and intervention strategies for the purpose of ensuring effective de-escalation strategies in compliance with Washington State WACs and Emergency Response Protocols in situations where students pose an imminent threat to self or others.
Other Functions
Personnel Assistance Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Related Duties Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge Required Knowledge is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Understanding the needs of a diverse population of students (including, but not limited to students with autism, emotional and behavior disorders, mental health needs, etc.); age appropriate activities; concepts of grammar and punctuation; school restructuring processes; performance-based assessments and scoring rubrics; and pertinent codes, policies, regulations and/or laws.
Skills Required Skills are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying assessment techniques; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software application; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Abilities Required Ability is required to schedule a significant number of activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate.
Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: effectively communicating with persons of varied backgrounds and educational levels; setting priorities; working as part of a team; working with detailed information/data; traveling; and flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; managing a department; monitoring budget expenditures. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization's services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 30% walking, 50% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Education and Experience Requirements
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Education: Bachelor's degree in job related area.
Equivalency: Masters Degree or Advanced Training Preferred.
