Job Description

 


Responsible for ensuring continuity of instruction and classroom management in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.


 


DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


 



  • Bachelor’s degree or above from an accredited four-year college or university; and

  • Valid Arizona teacher or substitute certificate..


 


INSTRUCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of District curriculum goals;

  • Implements lessons and activities provided by classroom teacher to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students;

  • Provides constructive feedback in a timely manner; and

  • Maintains a positive feeling tone during lessons.


CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 



  • Maintains a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students;

  • Complies with enforcing and implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct;

  • Enforces rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner; and

  • Consistently expects students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.


 


PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Implements by instruction and action the District’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives;

  • Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy, administrative regulation;

  • Cooperates with other members of the staff;

  • Maintains confidentiality in all areas, except where required by law;

  • Assumes individual responsibilities which may be assigned by the principal/supervisor and which may relate to student activities, student supervision or other assignments;

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated;

  • Assumes legal responsibility for the supervision of students on school property or in attendance at school sponsored activities;

  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;

  • Analyzes the special needs for at-risk students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of District specialists as required;

  • Maintains a classroom environment that is cognizant of the dignity of the teacher, students and other staff;

  • Maintains a manner that seeks positive solutions in actions with others and is efficient and effective in duties despite stressful and/or contentious situations; and

  • Communicates concerns and ideas with colleagues, students, parents and community in a positive, professional and ethical manner.
