Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or above. Must have a valid South Carolina teacher's certificate in Special Education (Preferably Multicategorical Certification but Learning Disabilities will be accepted). Minimum of 3 years teaching in special education. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
• Must have knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school district which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the job
• Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal regulations and guidelines
• Knowledge of the records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained
• Has thorough and comprehensive knowledge of current research in programs for students with disabilities procedures, legal issues, instruction and assessment
• PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the job and are not meant to be all inclusive
• Speak and hear
• Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision
• Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary
• Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, technology equipment, computers, and/or controls

Reports To: Building Principal

• SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Paid on the Certified Personnel Salary Schedule

ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation
