Job Description

POSITION:  HSU Workstudy Baptist Student Ministries

DEPARTMENT:  Baptist Student Ministries

SUPERVISOR TITLE:  Director of Spiritual Formation

FLSA STATUS:  Non-Exempt

EXEMPTION:  N/A

LOCATION:  Abilene

SUMMARY/SCOPE:

The BSM Interns help fulfill
the administrative and ministerial duties of the Baptist Student Ministry
Office. This includes interacting with other students, organizational tasks,
and anything else which helps facilitate the BSM ministries.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Intern Duties and
Responsibilities:

Administrative Tasks: Answering
the phone, checking the mail, making copies, keeping up with the BSM email,
maintaining BSM social media, making cookie-grams, making survival kits,
helping with any fundraising events, and any other office tasks deemed
necessary by the BSM Director.

Event Prep: Preparing locations
for all BSM events, set-up at events, food prep, getting chapel scanner,
working with Ministry Team Leaders, providing guidance and materials, etc.

Oversight: Overseeing the
Ministry Team Leaders, offering encouragement and spiritual help, checking in
on MTL well-being, and running meetings.

Ministry: Responsible for
reaching out to other students on campus, helping cast vision for the
ministries of the BSM, running “pop-up” events to engage students, and
occasional teaching or leading in Bible studies when appropriate.

Graduate Student Worker Duties and Responsibilities:

Administrative Tasks: Maintain
calendar of activities, coordinate cookie-grams and survival kits, help
reconcile financials, assist with BSM events as needed, and assist BSM director
as needed.

BSM Office Tasks: Answer the phone, checking the mail, making copies, keeping
up with the BSM email, being available in the BSM office when the BSM Director
is out, maintain the BSM office as a welcoming place for students, refill
coffee and snacks, and interact with students.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Intern Education/Experience: BSM Interns must be a currently
enrolled undergraduate student, sophomore and above, and must have been part of
a BSM ministry team or a Ministry Team Leader for at least one semester.

Graduate Student Worker
Education/Experience:

Must be a currently enrolled graduate student. Experience in
administrative-like duties or office experience is not required but preferred.
