Position Summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Civil Engineer to support the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects in our Seattle office. This role includes work on grading and drainage, stormwater systems, complete streets, active transportation facilities, and water and sewer infrastructure. The Civil Engineer, EIT will assist with technical design, construction documents, and permitting while working in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment alongside experienced engineers and project managers.

 

Essential Functions:

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

  • Support design of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment facilities, pipelines, pumping systems, and collection systems
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses (hydraulic, hydrologic, and process-related as applicable)
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Contribute to development of construction documents (plans and specifications)
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery
  • Assist with permitting and regulatory coordination
  • Provide construction-phase support, including submittal reviews, RFIs, and field observations
  • Participate in field work and site visits as needed

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required. PE license or progress toward licensure is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in civil or water/wastewater infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with engineering design principles, calculations, and construction documents
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or Civil 3D preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and technical writing
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to travel periodically for site visits

 

Physical Requirements:
⦁    Ability to perform fieldwork in varying conditions and on uneven terrain.
⦁    Ability to walk, stand, and perform light to moderate physical activity, including occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
⦁    Frequent use of engineering and field tools.
    
 

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
⦁    Combination of office and outdoor settings with variable weather exposure.
⦁    Moderate noise levels and occasional work on uneven terrain.
⦁    Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

 

Additional Information:
⦁    Full-time position based in Seattle, WA.
⦁    Periodic travel (approximately 15% or more) may be required.
