Job Description
Joining the team in our Tokyo office, you will help shape client’s decision making to accelerate the energy transition. You will play an active role in all aspects of client engagement: helping identify issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, and synthesizing conclusions into recommendations, while also managing workstreams and projects and driving internal initiatives.

You will be an important senior member of the Japanese practice and expected to have experience in the energy markets (ideally in power), either at a consultancy, government body, or industry. Prior experience in leading and managing a team will be a plus.

You will work in a dynamic, intellectually stimulating, and demanding yet supportive environment. You will enjoy autonomy, the opportunity to substantially influence major decisions in the energy sector, and to grow into an industry expert with deep experience addressing major strategic issues at the world’s leading electricity market modelling firm.

Key Responsibilities

As a Project Lead in the Tokyo Office, you will be responsible for:
  • Leadership: You will balance the delivery of commissioned projects with leading, coaching and inspiring teams of analysts and energy modelers such that they continuously exemplify Aurora’s values, improve their performance capability and develop to their full potential.
  • Project delivery: You will develop a clear and detailed understanding of the client’s business and expectations, scoping projects and managing them to time and budget. You will also oversee multiple projects simultaneously, providing both internal and external stakeholders with the orientation they need in critical project phases and situations. You will ensure optimal delivery on clients’ expectations, including selecting the appropriate analytical approach, leading on complex problem-solving, ensuring independent, high quality, rigorous quantitative analysis, interpretation and communication of data insights.
  • Developing new consulting business: You will independently contribute to building and deepening close client relationships, and as their trusted advisor, you are the first to whom they turn. Additionally, you will acquire new clients and projects, collaborating with internal stakeholders to respond successfully to inbound requests for proposals, by identifying opportunities through establishing and deepening client relationships and building your external profile as a thought leader within the energy ecosystem. You will help with developing new business areas that will contribute to the rapid growth plans of the Japanese practice in the coming years.
