
Loading Operations Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The Loading Operations Supervisor provides for the daily organization and oversight of outbound loading operations. This position is responsible for ensuring loads are completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and on time while maintaining compliance with company standards for load security, product care, and shipment documentation. The Loading Operations Supervisor must possess a thorough understanding of and be able to perform all functions of the Loading Department, while providing leadership, training, and operational support to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and efficiently. Oversee daily outbound loading operations to ensure plants are loaded, secured, and shipped safely, accurately, and on time.

Assign daily work and loading tasks to team members through the loading application to support efficiency and flow of operations.

Ensure each load is completed within operational expectations and verify loads are properly loaded, secured, damage-free, and within legal and company stack height, overhang, and width requirements.

Complete shipment processing in Acumatica upon load completion and verification.

Promptly and accurately record short shipments in Acumatica.

Print packing lists, trip reports, and required shipment documents for after-hours loads when needed.

Coordinate with logistics regarding appointment times, delayed carriers, and shipment priorities to minimize disruptions to dock flow.

Communicate effectively with other Warehouse Team Leaders, including pulling, and inbound, to coordinate labor, schedules, and operational needs.

Review the next day load schedule and create a preliminary loading plan, identifying possible solo loads, live loads, labor needs, and support required for execution. Communicate the plan with the appropriate Warehouse Team Leaders for first and second shift coordination.

Conduct daily inspections of the loading dock area to identify hazards and ensure compliance with company safety requirements.

Ensure loaders complete pre-trip inspections on trailers, including checks of tires, lights, tarps, and general trailer condition prior to loading.

Lead and enforce all safety requirements and regulations within the loading operation.

Ensure all employees are wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Immediately report accidents, near misses, and safety incidents to the Head of Warehouse, Head of HR, or emergency services as needed.

Encourage cross-training and employee development to improve team flexibility and operational support.

Maintain a positive team culture by addressing performance issues, reinforcing accountability, and recognizing employee contributions.

Maintain the loading dock, break area, and surrounding work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.

Regularly audit assigned tractors and loading equipment to ensure all required tools and supplies are accounted for and in proper working condition.

Identify operational bottlenecks, support problem solving, and work with leadership to improve loading methods, reduce waste, and optimize trailer capacity and labor efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One or more years of loading, warehouse, shipping, or logistics supervision experience, preferred in a tree, nursery, agricultural, or similar outdoor operational setting.

Proactive, capable of multitasking and troubleshooting, finding innovative solutions.

Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with a variety of teams and customers.

Demonstrated proficiency using software applications. MS Windows preferred.

Ability to read, write and utilize facsimile and other office equipment.

Excellent computer skills.

Experience with Acumatica or similar shipping/inventory systems preferred.

Ability to lead, train, and develop employees while maintaining accountability and productivity standards.

Physical Demands

Work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, lifting, sitting and walking.

Operation of heavy farm equipment machinery.
Job Site Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather (heat or cold), moving mechanical equipment, and loading dock traffic
- Compact Loader Certification a plus
- Sunday through Thursday transitioning to Monday through Friday, start and end times vary depending on organizational needs, expected daytime hours. May be required to work additional hours/days during peak times or as needed.
