Job Description

Our West Boise YMCA is seeking Health and Wellbeing Coaches to join the team! This position promotes individual and community health and wellbeing through direct engagement by assisting new and existing members to help them achieve their health and well-being goals through the EGYM system, proper equipment usage, educating members on other fitness opportunities, and answering member questions about the YMCA.

 

Serving over 20,000 active youth, adult, and family members, the West Branch of the Treasure Valley Family YMCA helps members lead a healthier, happier life.  Facility amenities and features include six fitness studios, three racquetball courts, full-court basketball gym, youth activity center, climbing wall, 50-meter swimming pool, and training pool.

 

Schedule:

This is a part-time position averaging 1-25 hours weekly. Schedule requirements are Wednesday nights from 5:00pm-8:00pm.

 

Requirements:

  • Deliver an exceptional and welcoming member experience by building intentional relationships, learning member names and demonstrating the Y voice attributes: determined, nurturing, genuine, hopeful, and welcoming.
  • Educate members on how to maximize their membership value and encourage participation in YMCA programs (e.g., personal training, wellness challenges, events).
  • Maintain a safe environment on the wellness floor and respond promptly to emergencies and safety issues. Educate members on all YMCA policies, including youth guidelines in wellness spaces.
  • Train and orient members on the EGYM training system to support them in achieving their health and wellbeing goals. Ensure that all appointments follow EGYM 1 Training Certification guidelines and are implemented in a safe, inclusive, and fun manner.
  • Participate in department and branch meetings and required training, maintaining all necessary certifications.
  • Leverage all available technology to motivate and support members in reaching their health and wellness goals.
  • Actively identify and offer additional support to members who may require help, such as health seekers, new members, and members with diverse abilities.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Experience in Health & Wellness, Health & Wellbeing or Personal Trainer preferred.
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Some sales experience preferred.
  • Must be able to engage others in conversations and make all people feel welcome.
  • Ability to respond calmly and quickly to safety and emergency situations.
  • Must have good interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

 

REQUIRED LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • EGYM Coach Certification 1- must be acquired within 14 days of hire.
  • The Y’s Foundations of Strength & Conditioning within 45 days of hire, or a BS in Exercise Science, Personal Trainer Certification (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NETA, NSCA, NFPT or ISSA), or a National recognized Foundational Certification in related field (Group Exercise).
  • CPR/AED. Prerequisite upon hire – must be acquired within 14 days of hire.
